Sahara Institute of Health Science (SIHS)
SIHS is a private institute established in 2064. It aims to produce skilled manpower in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation in the country. It is a sister organization of Sahara Care Home (SCH).
SIHS is equipped with modern offices, a small library, training and meeting rooms and a canteen. It has a team of 9 dedicated trainers and resource persons with expertise and experience in different areas of disability and organizational management.
Vision of SIHS
It envision a society where the rights of people with disabilities and diseases are respected and where there is equality of opportunity for such people to participate in all aspects of civil life.
Mission of SIHS
It exists to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in Nepal by raising the profiles of disability issues, both locally and nationally.
Strategic Objectives of SIHS
In line with its strategies, SIHS has set the following objectives:
To be a leading human resource development organization working in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation
To advocate for the rights of people with disabilities in partnership with key stakeholders
To strengthen and enhance community based and inclusive approaches in disability in development
Existing Activities of SIHS
SIHS in association with SCH is doing following activities :
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation training courses
Awareness raising events and activities
Research and development activities relating to physically challenged
Increasing opportunities of physical therapy and rehabilitation for people with disabilities through its hospital based and community based services
Trainings and Workshops
Course planned for this year includes :
Short Courses
Basic training course for physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilitators (PRFs)
Follow up and refresher training for PRFs
Basic Training course for Junior Massage Therapy Technicians (JMTTs)
Follow up and refresher training for JMTTs
A wide range of short courses to meet the current demands as per the need Advocacy
The activities related to the rights of physically challenged group of people are mostly involved in advocacy. The involvement in advocacy activities is mostly through :
