Sahara Care Home (SCH) is a private physiotherapy and rehabilitation hospital established and registered in 2006 with an envision of a society where the rights of people with disease or disability are respected and where there is equality of opportunity to participate in all aspect of civil life. Its mission is to improve quality of life of people with disease or disability by providing treatment and rehabilitation services.
SCH is located at Maharajganj, between two big hospitals (Kanti Children Hospital and TU Teaching Hospital), northern part of Kathmandu Metropolitan city. This is well equipped first hospital of its kind in Nepal. It provides physiotherapy and rehabilitation services along with acupuncture, acupressure, magnetotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. It has a team of different specialities including Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, Orthopedic surgeon, Cardiologist, Psychiatrist, Dentist, ENT specialist, Pulmonologist, General physicians, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech therapists, Orthotist and prosthetist, Nurses and other paramedicos. It has run OPD clinics. Consultation with senior doctors is available in regular OPD time or in emergencies. Establishment
This hospital was established as a result of initiation of one of the senior most physiotherapists in Nepal Dr. Hari K. Lamsal. He had been keeping a concept of this kind of complete physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre in his mind for the last few years. Some of his patients were also encouraging him to establish a centre of this kind in Nepal. Mr. Jana Prakash Chapagain, and Mr. Madhav Pandey, very close friend of Mr. Chapagain played vital role in getting success in establishing this hospital. Mr. Iswori Prasad Shrestha , Mr. Narayan Prasad Shrestha and Dr. Laxmi Raj Pathak were other important personalities who provided full cooperation in every steps of establishment of this centre and also a remarkable credit goes to Mrs. Amrita Lamsal, Assistant Physiotherapist, whose contribution in establishing this centre is never forgettable.
Mr. Chapagain, one of the leading founders of this hospital, a case of fracture dislocation Rt. Wrist, was advised by a physiotherapist, Mr. Tara Man shrestha, treating him in B&B hospital, a leading private orthopedic hospital in Nepal, to consult Dr Lamsal after not getting success of two months long continues physiotherapy. Mr. Chapagain had regained his full ROM within 4 weeks of physiotherapy by Dr. Lamsal. In 2005, Dr. Lamsal visited some rehabilitation centers in abroad and came back to Nepal with a decision of new set up of this kind of centre in Nepal. In a meeting with Mr. Chapagain, he got full assurance of help on his proposal. Mr. Panday was very active in this process of establishment from the beginning.
Mr. Iswori Prasad Shrestha and Mr. Narayan Prasad Shrestha both of the patients treated by Dr. Lamsal came to know the new center's concept and came in contact with them with a commitment of partnership.
Dr. Laxmi raj Pathak, Former Director General of department of health, Nepal government, Dr. Heera Khadka, Anesthesiologist, Tribhuvan University, Teaching Hospital also joined with the group of above said personalities and made a collective conclusion on establishment of this centre.
This hospital got registration from the office of the Company Registrar, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Nepal Government, on 12th April 2006 and from Department of Health, Health Ministry, Nepal Government on 7th July 2006. This hospital started its services on 1st May 2006.
